Theatre for primary schools is different because our audience normally has a limited level of English and a short attention span. Because of this, our shows have been written with the following in mind:
★ The plays are based on well-known stories, which quickly capture the children's attention.
★ The level of English is kept to a minimum. Little Red, for example, has a vocabulary of about 120 words; Snow White, about 150; and Frankenstein, about 180 words.
★ Linguistic structures are constantly repeated, so as to make them easier to understand.
★ We keep the students interested through audience participation. We ask them questions, prepare and elicit responses from them, and have them help the actors in many ways by coming up on stage and participating as characters or scenery.
